DEMOGRAPHICS

Duluth is home to about 86,200 residents.

Duluth unemployment has remained consistently low and currently sits at 3.7% (December 2014). Duluth has over 1000 job vacancies among various industries. This growth is partially attributed to the growth in aviation, healthcare, education, and professional services. Construction jobs continue to grow with the current and anticipated $180+ million in new downtown development projects. maurice's br1and new headquarters and a new Duluth Multimodal Transportation Center are just two of the exciting developments taking shape. The NorShor Theatre will soon light up the arts corridor once renovations are completed and a new Pier B Waterfront Hotel and Marina on the waterfront will welcome recreational boaters with access to "front door" docking and upscale accommodations.       

EDUCATION

Duluth Public Schools and the community have invested over $300 million in remodeling and building new schools, updating technology, and equipping teachers and classrooms to meet the needs of modern day learners.

Duluth has three highly ranked college institutions with over 24,000 students who contribute to 65% of the population (over the age of 25) holding a college degree. Duluth is fortunate to have immediate access to a young talent pool and has worked hard to retain and recruit professionals to work and remain in Duluth. Duluth's colleges are rated among the best in the nation for liberal arts education and offers a medical school, top notch engineering programs, and exemplary graduates. 

ECONOMY

The Duluth's economy grows stronger every  year with new companies starting up or expanding their market here. In a recent article by Finance and Commerce, projects in Duluth will have amassed over $2 billion in public and private investments by 2016. The economic outlook is promising as aviation, education,  healthcare, engineering, and information technology companies continue to add new jobs.

Residents have access to world class healthcare facilities, over 7000 healthcare professionals  who practice in 55 specialty areas.

RECREATION

Waterfront trail biking-new

Duluthians have immediate access to hundreds of miles of hiking, biking and skiing trails throughout the city. Within minutes of leaving work, you can be riding on a 3 mile mountain bike trail in Lester Park or skiing the slopes at Spirit Mountain. You'll enjoy exploring one of the two dozen creeks and city parks.
